Having Trouble Registering?
Below are common situations that may prevent you from registering for classes and possible solutions.
Registration Holds
Review the holds area of Albert to see if there are any issues blocking you from registering. Hold types include:
- Financial clearance: If you pay your bill late or not at all your account may be suspended. It may take a day after making a payment for a hold to be removed.
Missing Credentials
If you did not provide the appropriate documentation from your previous school (high school for undergraduates/college for graduate students) during the admissions process, you may be de-enrolled from classes and be prevented from registering until the documentation is received.
In such cases:
- Have your previous school(s) send NYU your final/official documents to your admissions office as soon as possible.
- *Undergraduates admitted since Fall 2020 who attended International Schools must have transcripts, national exam results, and graduation documents from schools outside of the United States sent to our partner, ECE, for authentication (and will be shared with NYU upon review completion). See Proof of Graduation Policy for more information.
- If you believe your document(s) should have been received by NYU, contact Undergraduate Admissions, or SPS DAUS Admissions, or the appropriate graduate admissions office.

A final, official high school transcript must be sent directly to NYU by a school official and must bear an official stamp.

If you are a second bachelor's degree student, submit your final, official transcript from your previous bachelor's degree instead of your high school transcript.
You can find more detailed information on required credentials, including those for home-schooled students, under NYU’s Proof of Graduation Policy.
International Baccalaureate Transcripts and Scores
If you have completed the International Baccalaureate program, submit your final transcript/scores electronically from the International Baccalaureate Organization to NYU.
*Undergraduates admitted since Fall 2020 who attended International Schools must see Proof of Graduation Policy for more information.
If you simultaneously completed the high school and IB diploma at a U.S.-accredited school, you only need to submit their final, official high school transcript to satisfy the proof of graduation policy.
A-Level Exam Certificates
*Undergraduates admitted since Fall 2020 who attended International Schools must see Proof of Graduation Policy for more information.
If you have completed A-Level exams, your final, original certificates should be emailed from your previous school and from an official school official's email address to admissions.ops@nyu.edu or mailed directly from your school to:
New York University
NYU Undergraduate Admissions

If you want to keep your original certificates, bring them to a StudentLink Center where a copy will be made for processing.
Final certificates/Cambridge Pre-U exam results must bear advanced level scores and be submitted as soon as possible/they are available.
Graduate and Professional Studies: Required Credentials
Official College Transcript
A final, official transcript that notes the degree awarded and graduation date is required of all graduate and professional students. If your transcript does not contain that information, you will be asked for the diploma/graduation certificate as a supplement.
Some graduate and professional schools have specific documentation requirements. Contact your school's admissions office for further information.
Transcripts must bear an official stamp and should be emailed from your previous school, from an official school official’s email address, and be submitted directly from your school's Graduate Admissions office.
