Add and Validate Classes
On this page: How to add classes | How to validate classes
Before your registration day and time, you can save any classes that you would like to take to your Shopping Cart in Albert. You should also validate your selections to confirm your enrollment eligibility for those classes. Once your registration day and time arrives, you must complete additional steps to officially enroll in those classes.
1. Log into Albert
Click the Course Search link in the Shopping Cart section.
2. Select a class to add
Select one from the Course Search or by entering a class number.
3. Select enrollment preferences
Once you select a class, a screen displays where you can select to be put on the waitlist if the class is full (recommended). You can also enter a permission number for the class if one is required (for classes with departmental or instructor consent). Make your selections, then click "Next."
4. Validate your options or wait for your enrollment day and time
The class is now in your Shopping Cart, saved until it is time for you to officially enroll. You can leave your class in your Shopping Cart until your registration day and time arrives, or validate your classes to confirm eligibility (recommended).
Note: Clicking on “Proceed to Step 2 of 3" button will result in an error message until it is time for you to officially enroll.
How to validate classes
1. Confirm your eligibility
Return to the Albert home screen and click the “Validate/Enroll/Edit” button to confirm your enrollment eligibility for your saved classes. This is important because some classes have prerequisite, corequisite requirements, and/or restrictions. Validating gives you the opportunity to correct any course selection errors before your registration day and time.
2. Select the class(es) to validate
Select "Yes" from the dropdown menu, then click "Validate."
3. Review the results
Successful validations are marked with a green check icon, while errors display a red cross. The error message will include details for any prerequisite, corequisite requirements, departmental consents, and/or other restrictions. Please note that you may need to address multiple errors when trying to register for a class that does not not pass initial validation. Discuss with your advisor if you have any questions.
4. Wait until your enrollment day and time
If you’re doing this before your registration day and time, you can leave your saved classes in your Shopping Cart until your enrollment appointment.
Note: Adding and validating a class does not guarantee placement, as it may become full before your scheduled registration day and time. Additionally, if a class changes its meeting time, or if a requisite is added after your initial validation check, you may not be aware of these changes unless you perform the validation check again. For these reasons, we recommend that you validate your planned courses often, and have alternative classes in mind for your schedule.
