Accept or Decline Your Aid
Accessing Your Financial Aid Package
When you are officially admitted to New York University, we will send information about your financial aid package to you through your Admitted Student Portal. It will describe the types and amounts of aid offered to you for the school year, and is based on the anticipation that you will be enrolled full time (12 credits or more) during the fall and spring terms.

Steps to Accept Your Aid
Once you have reviewed your estimated cost of attendance and financial aid package in your Admitted Student Portal, you will be able to take action to accept any aid that you would like to utilize.
NYU Scholarships and Grants
If you received an NYU scholarship or grant, we assume that you will want these awards and will accept them on your behalf. No action is required for NYU scholarships!
Confirmed Federal Financial Aid Eligibility
If you have submitted the 2025-26 FAFSA and received a financial aid offer from NYU that includes confirmed federal financial aid eligibility, regardless of admission type:
If you choose to utilize any Optional Federal Direct Loans, you will need to complete all of the required steps in order for the funding to be disbursed to your student account.
Federal Verification
NYU financial aid packages are awarded based on the assumption that the information that you have provided on the FAFSA is accurate. If your FAFSA is selected for federal verification, your federal financial aid will be reviewed and may be updated based on any changes to your application data. We will notify you if you are required to submit documentation for federal verification in June.
Renewing Your Aid Each Year
No application is required for most NYU scholarship renewal. If you are eligible for U.S. federal financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA (NYU’s school code is 002785) each year to be reviewed for your current federal financial aid eligibility.
- Students in opportunity programs or special scholar groups may be required to file the FAFSA, in order to renew their scholarship each year.
- The Global Pathways Scholarship is applicable to your study away term only and will not renew.

If you have been offered a scholarship from an outside organization, please provide us with a copy of your scholarship offer letter as soon as possible (be sure to include your University ID on each page). Outside scholarships do not generally affect your eligibility for NYU scholarships; however, a student’s total financial aid, including outside scholarships, may not exceed their estimated Cost of Attendance (COA).
Outside scholarship checks should be mailed to:
New York University
Office of the Bursar
StudentLink Center
383 Lafayette Street, 1st Floor
New York, NY 10003
Please be sure your name and University ID (N#) are included with the payment.
Paying Your Bill
We will apply all NYU scholarships and grants directly to your bill. If you have accepted a federal loan and have completed all the required steps, your loan(s) will be released to NYU to be applied to your bill. In order to avoid a delay in your financial aid being credited to your bill, please be sure to review your To Do List and Holds regularly on NYUAlbert.
You can learn more about how billing and payment works and payment plan options through the Bursar’s Office.
