MindfulNYU hosts a wide offering of FREE yoga and tai chi classes, as well as, Contemplative Practice courses throughout the week during the academic year. All classes are open to students, faculty, and staff with a current and valid NYU ID. Unfortunately, our classes are not open to alumni. Please see below for more information. These are drop-in classes and no prior registration is required. Our class schedule follows the official University Academic Calendar.

Mindful Movement Classes

Fall 2025 Schedule

MindfulNYU offers FREE movement classes (yoga and tai chi) Monday through Saturday, September through December, and late January through May. These classes are taught by certified, dynamic, and highly experienced teachers from all over the city. Classes focus not just on physical fitness and health but also on connecting to our center and finding peace through meditation-in-movement.

Please note that many MindfulNYU yoga classes are offered on an in-person and online basis, with the exception of our classes on Monday at 5:00 PM & 5:30 PM and Tuesday at 11:00 AM.  All other Zoom links can be found in the class description.

Contemplative Practice Courses with MindfulNYU 

Looking for ways to deepen your mindfulness practice? MindfulNYU is offering 10-week, interactive meditation courses in the fall and spring semesters. These non-credit classes combine best practices from a wellbeing context with both Buddhist and secular mindfulness/meditation approaches.

Receive a MindfulNYU sunrise clock*, a contemplative LinkedIn badge*, and a whole new arsenal of tools to improve your focus and decrease your stress when you sign up for one of our 10-week, interactive meditation courses! Classes run weekly from September 29th and run until December 12th, except during the week of November 24th.

Course 1: Authentic & Awake with Rev. Qalvy Grainzvolt (Meditation Faculty) 

Mondays at 6:00 pm; Global Center Room 475

Join Rev. Qalvy Grainzvolt for a restorative relaxation-based meditation class exploring inner narratives and discovering an authentic self with meditative awareness. This class aims to cultivate inner peace, warmth, and wisdom through meditative practices, fostering connection with core authenticity. 

Course 2: Calm & Clear Mind: Mindfulness Meditation with Rev. Doyeon Park (Buddhist Spiritual Life Advisor; Meditation Faculty)

Tuesdays at 6:00 pm; Global Center Room 475

Join Rev. Doyeon Park for "Calm & Clear Mind," a silent sitting practice to cultivate a tranquil and focused mind. Engage in discussions on Buddhist and mindfulness topics to nurture inner wisdom and compassion, spreading these blessings to the world.

Course 3: Embracing Life with the Practicalities of Mindful Meditation Immersion with Amanda Gloria Valdes (Yoga and Meditation Faculty; Generation Meditation Mentor)

Fridays at 11:00 am; Global Center Room 461

Join Amanda Gloria Valdes for a mediation community series. This course offers a deep dive into the practice of mindful meditation, emphasizing its practical application in everyday life. Through immersive sessions, participants will explore techniques to cultivate awareness, resilience, and compassion. The course is community-centered, encouraging shared experiences and insights to foster a supportive environment. Ideal for those looking to integrate mindfulness into their daily routines and community engagements, this course provides practical tools for embracing life with clarity and purpose.

Mindful Mondays

Join Melissa Carter, Senior Director of Global Spiritual Life at NYU, online in a 30-minute mindfulness session each Monday at 12:00 pm ET starting September 8th, 2025. Melissa will guide participants over Zoom through various mindfulness exercises, including visualization, mindful breathing, and meditation. Various themes of the sessions emerge to support you in bringing more gentleness, compassion, and intention to your workday.   

Meditation Room

MindfulNYU also offers a meditation room, open during our office hours, for individual practice (quiet, seated, upright meditation). Come by GCASL Room 486 for quiet, peace, and calm right here on campus.

The meditation room is available for a silent, 20-minute meditation for individuals and/or groups up to 4 at a time. Please stop by the front desk to sign up for a 20-minute slot. There is no eating or drinking in the space.
