Application Deadlines

You should submit your electronic application on or before the admissions deadlines posted below. You are welcome to apply for admission as early as you would like and we will keep your application on file until we begin reviewing applications for the term you have indicated.

Available Locations

All visiting students are required to select two location preferences for study away. Please review this list to confirm the locations that are available:

Note: NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU London, NYU Los Angeles Program, and NYU New York are available to NYU students only.

Note: Barring exceptional circumstances, only applicants who apply to Abu Dhabi as their first choice program can be considered for study there. NYU Abu Dhabi is not an option for program change requests. 

The application review is a holistic process that considers the complete academic record, unique program requirements, and student essay. It is suggested that applicants have earned a GPA of 3.0; students with lower GPA's are encouraged to provide insight to their academic goals in the personal statement. 

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Registered as a full time student at an accredited US college or university
  • Completed freshman year of study (two full semesters) and will be 18 or older prior to beginning of term away
  • Suggested GPA of 3.0 or higher; students with lower GPA's are encouraged to provide insight to their academic goals in the personal statement
  • Incomplete (I) grades on transcript must be resolved before an admissions decision can be made
  • Students who have completed at least one year of college but are not presently enrolled or who have graduated are also eligible to apply; however, priority is given to students currently matriculated
  • Students currently on a leave of absence are generally ineligible to study away; exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis
  • Students on academic or disciplinary probation are ineligible to study away

NYU Los Angeles has admissions requirements that are unique to that program. Students interested in applying to NYU Los Angles should review this How to Apply page.

Moses Center for Student Accessibility

Students with disabilities who are requesting accommodations at NYU Global Academic Centers must contact the Moses Center to discuss reasonable accommodations. Students should contact the Moses Center prior to choosing a location and should register with the Moses Center as soon as they receive their admission notification.   • NYU students interested in applying to participate in the International Exchange Program (open only to NYU students) should review the information posted online and then submit the student data form.
  • Students wishing to apply for admission to begin a NYU undergraduate degree program either as a first year or transfer student should not use this application and should instead visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions Web-site at admissions.nyu.edu

Notification & Acceptance 

Applicants will be notified via e-mail on the notification date. Accepted students must confirm their intention to enroll by submitting a nonrefundable $500 reservation fee and are urged to do so immediately upon receiving admission notification; enrollment is not guaranteed until the reservation is received. Reservations will be accepted as long as space remains available. Please note that space in the program is limited. If the program reaches capacity before we receive your reservation, you will be placed on a waitlist.

Program Change Requests & Application Cancellations

Any student who has already applied, been admitted, or confirmed to study away for an upcoming term but who has decided to change his or her first choice program location should submit a program change request form. Please understand that change requests will be reviewed on a space available basis and that your application will be reassessed in light of the information you include here.

Students who have previously confirmed their intent to enroll in study away (meaning you've accepted your offer of admission through Albert) but who have decided to cancel their enrollment, should submit our cancellation request form.

 

A Note for All Students: Upon acceptance, you will be required to submit a confidential medical form and a confidential immunization report signed by your physician.

Eligible student types include: 

Applicants to NYU academic year study away programs are generally registered as full-time students at an accredited US college or university. All applicants are required to include two different choices of locations for study and every attempt will be made to match students with one of their top two locations. Students who participate in study away programs have completed their freshman year of study (two full semesters) and have reached the age of 18 prior to the beginning of the term away. Students admitted to the program have earned a GPA of at least 3.0 or higher. Incomplete (I) grades on official transcripts must be resolved before an admissions decision can be made. Students who have completed at least one year of college but are not presently enrolled in a college or university or have already graduated are also eligible to apply; however, priority is given to students currently matriculated.

In order to apply to study away for a semester or an academic year, we require the following information to consider your application complete:

To create a Study Away Profile you’ll need:

  • Personal Background Information (Name, Net ID, Address, etc)
  • Citizenship Details
  • Unofficial transcript
  • Study Abroad Advisor Approval Form (from home institution)
  • Term Preferences - Fall, Spring or Academic Year (Fall & Spring Semester)
  • Location Preferences- Students applying for the Academic Year, can rank two combinations and select a different location per semester.

Current NYU students from any undergraduate college/school may submit an application. Log into the application with your NYU net ID and password.

A complete application will require*:
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (optional) locations
  • Course Preferences
  • Personal Statement (250 - 500 words) and Unofficial Transcript

*Some specialized programs will require additional information

Full Year Applicants must submit a fall 2019 and spring 2020 application.

Application Troubleshooting

Steps to Submit an Application

Visiting students (students currently matriculated at another US accredited institution) who would like to apply must create an application ID.

  1. Create an application ID as a First-time user
  2. Log into the application using your NYU net ID and password
  3. Select the term you are applying to study away. You can select Fall, Spring or Academic Year (Fall & Spring Semester).
  4. Create a Study Away Profile by submitting the General Information, Location Selection and Study Abroad Advisor Approval. If you are interested in studying away for an Academic Year, you can select a different location per semester.
  5. Receive a confirmation email to access your individualized Application Status Page to complete your application 
  6. Submit all materials in the Application Checklist:
    • Study Away Short Answer Questions
    • Location Selection Details
    • Course Intent & Preferences
    • Language Background (if applicable)
    • Specialized Program Short Answer Questions (if applicable)
    • Academic Internship Application (optional for specific locations)
  7. Completed all checklist items for your application to be considered complete and ready to be reviewed. If you need to make any updates or edits to your application, please email global.admissions@nyu.edu with your request.

Visa requirements set by the Czech government take up to 4 months to secure and process - applying as early as possible allows enough time to follow the required steps to obtain the visa.

Interested students should apply by the earliest deadline to enroll at NYU Prague.

Under the "Student Center" heading please click the link to the "Application Center." This will take you to a new page where you will select the "Create" option next to the "Global Programs Undergraduate Application" definition.

Visiting Students - Please click here to access the online application. Additional application materials must be submitted separately. A complete application includes the following:

*If your institution does not release official transcripts to students, then transcripts may be sent to the NYU Office of Global Programs at the address listed below.

**Required for applicants to NYU Paris who do not have proof of language proficiency on their academic transcript(s) should submit this form. If you've taken courses in the local language that appear on your transcript or have current AP, IB, or SAT II scores (from within the past twelve months), you do not need to submit this document.

Visa requirements set by the Czech government take up to 4 months to secure and process - applying as early as possible allows enough time to follow the required steps to obtain the visa.

If you are considering NYU Prague as an E.U. passport holder, you can disregard this message.

All other country passport holders: In order to receive notification of admission within sufficient time to apply for and receive your student visa, all non-U.S. citizens (including Green card holders)/non-E.U. citizens should apply by the earliest deadline to enroll at NYU Prague.
