NYU Alerts
Winter Storm: Pivot to Remote Instruction Tomorrow, Monday, February 23
Due to forecasts of a severe storm with heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous blizzard conditions starting this afternoon, NYU will move to remote instruction on Monday, February 23. NYC Public Schools will be closed and the City has issued a Hazardous Travel Advisory beginning today through tommorow. The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning beginning 1:00 p.m. Sunday through 6:00 p.m. Monday.
Instruction
Faculty should plan to hold their classes at the normally scheduled time, but remotely. If it is not possible to teach a particular class session remotely following its assigned schedule, instructors should inform their students as soon as possible and consult with their departments or schools to reschedule missed classes or to identify other solutions for meeting credit hour requirements. Faculty should review our Severe Weather and Instruction policy and consult our website for helpful remote resources.
Administrative Operations, University Offices, and Personnel Performing Essential Duties
Personnel not performing essential services should work remotely and not commute to campus, as roads and public transportation are expected to be severely impacted by the storm. Administrators may confirm their mode of operation with their supervisors.
All personnel performing essential duties are required to report for their assigned work at the appointed times and locations. If you are unsure if you fall into this category, please consult your supervisor or manager.
Any employees commuting to campus should use good judgement, leave plenty of extra time, and exhibit extreme caution when traveling, as the storm will impact roads and public transportation systems. We are also aware that such a shift in operations may impact those members of the NYU community with childcare or eldercare responsibilities. We urge all supervisors to be mindful of such considerations and to exhibit maximum flexibility with their employees.
Campus Transportation, Dining Services, Library Services, Events and Student Health Center
The NYU Shuttle will be operational tomorrow (Monday) morning; however there may be delays or changes to service due to hazardous conditions. Safe Ride will cease operations as of 11 p.m. Sunday night. Please check the NYU Transportation page as well as both the Passio and Safe Ride apps for updates.
On Sunday, dining locations will close at 8:00 p.m. For Monday, residential dining halls (Downstein, Lipton, Third North, Crave at Paulson, Palladium, and Jasper Kane Cafe) will be open, but hours of operation will be impacted. For updates, please consult the NYU Eats page and the NYU Eats on social media.
All in-person library services will be closed on Sunday, Feb. 22 and Monday, Feb. 23. Remote services remain available. Study spaces in Bobst and Dibner libraries remain open during regular hours of operation.
The NYU Card Center will be closed on Monday, Feb. 23.
The Student Health Center will have urgent care available on-site on the 3rd floor of 726 Broadway. Scheduled appointments will be moved to remote wherever possible; appointments that must be in person will be rescheduled. Students with appointments will be contacted via text messages and secure email messages. Please check the Student Health Center website for regular updates.
Non-academic events should be postponed, rescheduled, or moved remotely where feasible.
