Full-time employees may choose from several plans of health coverage. They may also enroll in the NYU Dental Plan, and have access to the NYU Retirement Plan, disability and life insurance, NYU LiveSmart wellness programs and activities, the Carebridge employee assistance program, mortgage programs, and dependent coverage. Full-time employees may also be eligible for tuition benefits for themselves and dependents.
Part-time employees have access to retirement benefits, business travel accident insurance, and New York State Disability Insurance. Some part-time employees may enroll in health plans and qualify for dependent coverage. Retired employees are eligible for benefits too, including medical coverage, life insurance, and other benefits depending on which classification of employee they were at the University.
HDHP at NYU: Among the University's medical plan offerings, eligible faculty, administrators (including part-time), professional research staff, and members of Local 810 may elect a consumer-driven health plan – NYU's High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with Health Savings Account (HSA), administered by UnitedHealthcare.
HDHPs are designed to give you more control over how you spend your health care dollars. You also have the opportunity to enroll in an HSA, a bank account that you may contribute to through pre-tax payroll deductions and withdraw from to pay for eligible out-of-pocket expenses.
