Rubin Hall

About Rubin

Located at the iconic address of 35 5th Avenue, Rubin reopened in Fall 2024 after an extensive 15-month renovation and Passive House retrofit. Upgrades to Rubin Hall include the addition of air-conditioning to the entire building, new custom-made noise-limiting windows, new flooring and new furniture. In addition, the lobby has been redesigned and a new common kitchen has been created.

Rubin is part of the FYRE (First Year Residential Experience) and is served by 13 Resident Assistants (RA), a Faculty Fellow-in-Residence, and a Faculty Affiliate. The Rubin team hosts a plethora of programming, so you will find plenty to do in Rubin at NYU and in NYC! Rubin is home to the Sashay and Stay, an LGBTQ+ Community. We have several great amenities for residents to take advantage of, including a large second-floor lounge with a dance studio, private music rooms, community kitchen, media rooms, conference room, study lounges and beautiful views overlooking 5th Avenue. Rubin also has a water bottle filling station on the second floor which provides filtered and cool water that helps keep our residents hydrated. At Rubin, we have a tradition of having one of the most spirited hall councils, which we affectionately refer to as SUG@R (Student Undergraduate Government At Rubin). We encourage everyone to get involved in the Rubin community, whether that means running for President of SUG@R, being a floor representative, or attending our fun programs.
