Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)

NYU's Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) prepares New York middle and high school students for academic and career success through immersive courses, workshops, and supervised training in a variety of STEM subjects.

Led by NYU faculty and co-taught by NYU students, STEP offers:

  • Core subject instruction and Regents exam preparation
  • Enrichment classes that enhance science and mathematics education
  • College admissions preparation workshops and standardized test preparation
  • Project-based learning and supervised research opportunities
  • Mentorship and career awareness/development activities

Through STEP, students increase their college readiness and their competitiveness for admission to selective degree programs. STEP is designed to encourage and increase the number of economically disadvantaged or first generation students in the science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) careers, health-related fields and licensed professions.
