High School Programs
We are proud to offer high school programs that draw on the strengths of NYU’s various schools and colleges. Whether it’s by earning college credit or strengthening artistic or professional skills in an intensive workshop, students will experience life at NYU, first hand. Many of our programs allow students to strengthen their academic portfolio, while others enhance performance and studio art experiences.
Explore High School and Middle School Opportunities
NYU’s varied array of high school and middle school programs offer flexibility and options that can be tailored to your individual needs and schedule. We offer 6-week classes, 1-week classes, and everything in between!
Most residential programs are offered during the summer, however there are many opportunities to study at NYU on campus or online during the academic year. Application processes, requirements and deadlines are varied, as are housing and financial aid offerings.
High School Law Institute
Gain an in-depth knowledge of fundamental aspects of the U.S. legal system. Taught by NYU Law students, this free program introduces 9th-12th graders to concepts in criminal and constitutional law. Through discussion, assignments, and debate, students develop skills in research, writing and critical thinking.
HSLI is conducted throughout the academic year on Saturdays from 10 AM-1 PM. It is a commuter program, open to students within the NYC-metro area.

XR Through Virtual Worlds
NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Spring Program for Extending Reality Through Virtual Worlds is a 4-month, 8-class online program that introduces high-school students to the fundamentals of designing and developing augmented reality (AR) based experiences with a focus on developing basic applications and games.

Machine Learning
NYU Tandon's Spring Program for Machine Learning is a 4-month, 8-class online program that introduces high school students to the computer science, data analyses, mathematical techniques and logic that drive the fields of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI).

Tisch School of the Arts - Future Artists Programs
The Future Artists Programs at NYU Tisch School of the Arts are free arts workshops taught by undergraduate faculty to high school students on Saturdays in the spring semester. Our mission is to provide free arts education to qualifying students in the greater New York City Metropolitan area.

NYU College of Dentistry's Saturday Academy
Saturday Academy aims to increase diversity in the healthcare professions by introducing underrepresented high school students to the profession of dentistry, while simultaneously preparing them for the college application process. Explore dentistry through hands-on activities and learn about the process of applying to college in this program, which meets two Saturdays a month each fall semester.

Visionary Studio Saturday Art Workshop
Visionary Studio: Saturday Art Workshop offers classes to high school students that infuse issues of social justice into a dynamic art-making practice. Participating students explore significant social themes (Reimaging NYC, Imagining the human body, Activism in visual art, Climate change, etc.) and draw upon a rich array of innovative, multidisciplinary approaches through which they can visually express their ideas.

The NYU Collegiate Seminar Program offers high school juniors the opportunity to experience college-level classes at a top-tier research university. Selected students will participate in 90-minute online seminars taught by leading NYU faculty in a variety of academic subjects.

GSTEM Data Science Course
This new Data Science Class will be offered in Spring 2022. This remote course has been developed and taught by NYU instructors and is a great opportunity for those looking to expand their STEM interests beyond the high school curriculum. Grades 9-12 welcome! Eligible applicants will have taken (or currently be taking) pre-calculus (or equivalent) and an introductory computer science class.

NYU Precollege

Students learn the systems, tools, and logic behind the systems and artificial intelligence that influence our daily lives.

NYU Tandon School of Engineering: XR Through Virtual Worlds
NYU Tandon's Summer Program for Extending Reality Through Virtual Worlds is a two-week online summer program that introduces high-school students to the fundamentals of designing and developing augmented reality (AR) based video games that focus on telling choice-driven stories.
Over the course, students will learn to create narrative-based games with engaging and interactive stories driven by rich stories that unfold in the real world via AR, and that emphasize players making choices and driving the narrative through blurring the boundaries between the virtual and real.

Connected Devices is an online, two-week, full-day program open to current 8th through 11th grade students interested in designing and building a “connected” every-day device. From smart appliances to home automation systems, internet-connective devices have extended internet connectivity well beyond phones and computers. These new capabilities enable us to intelligently gather information through advanced sensors and provide valuable information to anyone from anywhere.

NYU Tandon's Summer Program for Automation Robotics and Coding (SPARC) is a two-week, full-day summer program for introducing rising 9th through 12th high school students to the basics of robotics, mechatronics and programming on the NYU Tandon Downtown Brooklyn campus. SPARC is best suited for academically strong students with an interest, but not necessarily experience in robotics.

Sounds of New York City (SONYC)
SONYC supports a team of 20 scientists working to engineer cyber-physical systems to help combat NYC’s noise pollution problem. This is tackled by bringing together specialists in acoustics, machine learning, distributed networking, citizen science, digital media, data analysis and visualization.

Science of Smart Cities (SoSC)
Science of Smart Cities (SoSC) introduces middle school students to engineering, science, computer science and technology that make cities more sustainable, efficient and safer. Through hands-on activities, demonstrations and experiments, STEM concepts are integrated showing how those concepts are applied through engineering disciplines in cities today and how they might be applied in cities in the future. Participants not only learn about the scientific method and research practices, SoSC connects participating students to each other, and to college age near-peers, through teamwork and mentorship.

Math Program for Young Minds
CMT's Math Program for Young Minds is a 13-week long online program for mathematically talented middle school students in grades 7-8. The program provides a mathematically rich environment to middle school students interested in mathematics, and is designed to encourage them to explore mathematical topics outside the school curriculum. Students are introduced to undergraduate level math topics while building problem solving skills and abstract reasoning in topics, including Introduction to Number Theory and Introduction to Topology and Geometry.
