Academic Calendar Guidelines

The NYU academic calendar is developed according to the guidelines below by the Senate Academic Affairs Committee and ratified by the University Senate. In rare cases, when approved by the University Senate, the published academic calendar may be changed.

The academic calendar advances the University's academic mission by facilitating teaching and learning at NYU. These guidelines articulate priorities for developing the academic calendar.

While the majority of the University’s schools will follow the academic calendar developed using these guidelines, some programs, professional schools, and global campuses and academic centers may adopt variations on this calendar to meet their unique academic needs or local customs.
