This site has tools to submit any questions or concerns students, faculty, employees and staff, parents and families, and alumni may have about the strike, as well as FAQs, fact sheets, and updates on the latest negotiations.

NYU values and respects its unionized contract faculty, and even though the union has begun a strike, negotiations are continuing and the University is working hard to reach a fair and sustainable contract.

The University Continues To Call For Impartial Mediation - The Union Continues to Say No

There has been progress at the negotiating table, with the University and union reaching 30 tentative agreements. But there remain major outstanding issues to resolve. For more than five months, NYU has called on the union to agree to utilize an impartial outside mediator who could help bridge differences and move negotiations forward.

Mediators are often central to reaching fair contracts, especially when a strike is underway.

To date, the union continues to refuse, prolonging the disruption of a strike for their members, colleagues, and students.

The University’s Position

NYU values and respects its unionized contract faculty and has made the union market-leading offers.

The University’s recent comprehensive proposal would improve the lives of every one of its members, including significant raises, the highest minimum salaries of any unionized contract faculty in the country, and comprehensive benefits including enhanced family care.

NYU’s offer also includes comprehensive benefits, including enhanced family care subsidies, paid professional development leave, a voluntary retirement program, and minimum professional development funding of $2,500 per year. The package has strong provisions for job security, academic freedom, and shared governance on academic and pedagogical matters.
