Figure includes tuition for full-time student status covering 12-18 points, and several program activities and excursions. For each point taken in excess of 18 points in a semester, there is an additional charge per point.

Non-NYU Students

If your college or university has a partnership with NYU Global Academic Programs the cost of tuition may be less than the posted figures. Inquire with your study abroad office to find out if there is a partnership with NYU.

Housing** and Meal Plan***

All NYU Abu Dhabi students are required to live in NYU housing as a condition of enrollment. The meal plan is also required. Please note that the meal plan cost is subject to VAT at a rate of 5%, resulting in an additional charge of $145. A cancellation fee may be assessed if a student's written request to cancel the housing license is approved.

NYU’s Electronic billing system is the official means of generating tuition bills for all enrolled students. Within a few weeks of registering for classes, students (with the exception of visiting students whose home schools choose to bill them directly for their term at NYU) will receive a message at their official NYU e-mail address notifying them that a bill for tuition, fees, and housing is now available.

Students will be billed an estimated housing charge, with the exception of students placed in homestays. This estimate is used as a “placeholder charge” until we place students in their final housing assignment; the initial charge is unrelated to the final housing charge. There are two reasons we do this:

Students on financial aid have loans and grant funds released to them earlier.
Students can budget ahead and pay the bulk of their charges earlier, rather than waiting until final housing assignments are made.

Once the actual housing placement has been made, the E-bill is adjusted, resulting in either a credit or an additional charge. The final charge will appear on the student's E-bill within 2-3 weeks following the start of the program.

Global Travel Assistance

Provided at no additional cost to the student, this service provides assistance through one of the world's largest providers of medical and security evacuation as well as general travel aid (e.g., lost document assistance). This company provides 24-hour global services with the help of our site staff to our students abroad.

Affordability

Visiting students can readily explore Abu Dhabi affordably. The city offers many free events, shows, festivals, movie screenings, beaches, and parks.

Groceries are relatively inexpensive, with Lulu’s Hypermarket offering shopping options on a budget.

You can satisfy just about any craving with Abu Dhabi’s abundance of restaurants, cafeterias, and coffee shops. Low-cost local favorites include Karak Chai (4 AED/1 USD), Shawarma (7 AED/2 USD), and Oman Chips Sandwiches (3 AED/ 82 cents). Visit our dining page for more information about on-campus dining.

The cost of airfare and immigration is approximately $1,000-$1,400, with no immigration fees to students. There is a free NYUAD shuttle with stops at most popular destinations in the city. A one-way ticket to the city on a local transit bus is 2 AED, just over 50 cents USD. A taxi ride to downtown Abu Dhabi costs about 25 AED (6.81 USD) and could be shared by four students.

The cost of all required textbooks for courses is included in the cost of tuition. You won’t need to spend extra money on these.

Books, Trips and Exploration

Travel

Students planning to travel extensively outside the program parameters on weekends and holidays should budget accordingly. With the exception of tuition, all costs are estimated and may vary depending on the student's budget. In addition, student insurance (health and accident) is mandatory and will vary according to individual policies.

Meals

The generous meal plan is required and consists of a combination of card swipes and campus dirhams that can be used in a variety of on-campus dining venues such as the dining halls, the Marketplace, the convenience store, the Library Café and the Blacksmith Coffee Company. The Marketplace and the dining halls offer a diverse range of dining options whereas the convenience store has a wide array of grocery items and other products for basic daily needs. Students can also use campus dirhams for coffee and snacks at the Library Café and the Blacksmith Coffee Company.

Excursions/Cultural Activities

All excursions and trips organized by the Office of Global Education and student leaders will be covered. We had over 50 excursions in Spring 2022! These excursions will take you all over Abu Dhabi and help you explore all the major cultural sites and hidden gems.

Required Course Materials

NYU Abu Dhabi does not charge additional fees for required course materials. They are included in tuition costs. You will be able to pick them up from the NYU Abu Dhabi bookstore before starting classes.
