Sustainability is a point of pride for Sydney. The City’s plan - Sustainability Sydney 2030 – prioritises the environment, and includes ongoing development of walking and cycling networks along with the new light rail system to link Central Sydney, along with green building, extensive tree planting and a focus on recycling initiatives.
Sydney is the heart of the World Harbours Project, a global initiative of scientists developing resilient urban ports and harbours adapted to a warming climate.
There are many opportunities to engage in Sydney’s environment movement, from visiting the thriving network of City Farms, to volunteering for ‘bush regeneration’ work in local forests, to attending seminars, movies and events held by Sydney’s welcoming environmental community.
