NYU Sydney actively participates in Australia's reconciliation movement. Our Reconciliation Action Plan is a practical framework and formal commitment developed in partnership with Reconciliation Australia. This Plan articulates how NYU Sydney recognizes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in daily practice, and where possible, advocates for partnership with Indigenous Australians and Indigenous owned organizations. The Plan provides targets for NYU Sydney to work towards as we progress alongside other Australian organizations in support of national unity.

The attitudes of contemporary Australians are shifting from a colonial viewpoint to an inclusive perspective that recognizes the valuable contribution made by the First Peoples of this land. At all levels of society, concerted efforts are being made to acknowledge the past and promote positive relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

NYU Sydney’s Reconciliation Action Plan serves as a constant reminder of our commitment to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we work and learn. All visitors to NYU Sydney have a unique opportunity to learn about Australia’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous history and to actively participate in Australia’s journey to reconciliation.
