Changing Reservation Dates

Date change requests must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the beginning of the earliest week that is being added or removed from the existing reservation.

Billing is based on a Sunday to Saturday schedule. Weeks cannot be prorated if you do not arrive on a Sunday or leave prior to a Saturday.

Date changes are processed according to the date received.

The 2020 date change request form is available HERE.

All date changes processed after May 1, 2020 will be assessed a $35 processing fee.

All requests to reduce a reservation (and have charges removed for those weeks) must be submitted at least one full week prior to the earliest week being removed from the reservation. Failure to provide at least one week’s notice will result in the resident being charged in full for that week.

All requests to extend a reservation are subject to availability and approved requests require the resident to remit full payment for the additional weeks being added to the reservation as well as any processing fee within one week of the change.

For all date changes, please note the following:

Checking out of the residence hall prior to the scheduled departure date does not constitute official notification of a change in departure date. All such requests must be made following the procedures described here.

If you have requested to live with people and one person in the group changes their arrival date and the other people in the group do not, this may affect the request to be assigned to the same bedroom or suite. Changing departure dates does not impact roommate/suitemate assignments.

Changing Your Meal Plan

All residents assigned to a traditional residence hall will be assigned to the 8 meal plan (8 meals and $30 Dining Dollars per week). Residents assigned to a traditional hall must maintain a meal plan.

Changes and cancellations are effective the first Sunday following the date the request is received.

Your NYUCard (photo ID) serves as your meal card. Meals missed because of delays in obtaining your NYUCard are not refundable.

The 2020 NYU Meal Plan Portal is not yet available.

Requesting an Assignment Change

Assignment change requests will be reviewed periodically contingent on availability. We will email you if we are able to accommodate your assignment change request.

Please submit THIS FORM if you would like to request reassignment:

  • to another residence hall
  • within your residence hall to a different room type (for example, from a shared bedroom to a single bedroom)

Please note, single bedrooms are very limited. We do not have wait-lists for buildings or specific room types. Requests for specific room types will not be reviewed.

Changing Your Affiliation Status

Once you apply, if your affiliation status changes and you either enroll in a course, participate in an NYU program, or work for an NYU department, you may fill out the affiliation change form to request an assignment change or update your application preferences.

Please note, some residence halls are only available to individuals enrolled for summer coursework at NYU, participating in an NYU sponsored program, or working for an NYU department. If your affiliation status has changed and you are now either enrolled in a course, participating in an NYU program, or working for an NYU department, you may fill out the form below to request an assignment change or update your application preferences. Please note that your program or course dates must be more or less concurrent with your housing reservation dates.

The affiliation change form is not yet available.

Our office will confirm affiliation/enrollment prior to reassignment.
