faculty with students in a New York street

Adjusting to a new culture and new home can be difficult, especially if you’re moving to a new country. Know that there are resources to help you understand and process the different things you’re bound to experience as you adjust to your life at NYU. An ongoing extension of international student orientation, Being in the United States (US) is a series of programs hosted by the Office of Global Services to help international students become more familiar with life both in the US and New York City.

Through Being in the US, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about and join in conversations that explore the many different facets of life in the US and New York. Each semester, Being in the US programs focus on:

  • Cultural Adjustment
  • Knowing Your Rights in the US
  • Social Justice and Identity
  • US Politics
  • Safety
  • Healthcare

Have an idea for another Being in the US program based on things you’ve encountered since being in New York or something you’re worried about as you transition to your life at NYU? Send your idea to ogs-programming@nyu.edu.
