Making Connections
Adjusting to a new home, city, and culture isn’t easy for everyone. Meeting other students and making connections at NYU can help. You might be interested in practicing your English skills, but you will also hopefully find a support system and feel more at home. There are many ways to get involved and make connections as an international student.
Getting Involved at NYU
OGS Social Events and Outings
The Office of Global Services hosts social programming throughout the year. We aim to give students the opportunity to meet other international students while exploring the New York City sights and culture. Whether you are into history, the arts, or sports, OGS will have an event that you will want to check out.

Student Clubs and Organizations
NYU Engage is an online community where NYU students can create and join clubs and organizations; find events; and stay engaged via message boards, news posts, and group messaging. Set-up your NYU Engage account to access events going on around campus!
Club Fest
Club Fest brings together NYU student organizations under one roof for the semester's largest community-building event. Get to know all sponsored clubs as current members answer your questions. Meet our fraternities and sororities on campus, including multicultural organizations. Find athletic clubs and intramural sports you can join.
Club Fest is presented by the Center for Student Life twice a year: once in the fall, then again at the start of the spring semester.
Find and Connect with a School-Based Club
In addition to university wide clubs, you can also connect with other students through a school based club.
Center for Student Life
The Center for Student Life helps NYU students navigate the university. They sponsor University-wide clubs and programs that provide social and leadership opportunities for all students — throughout their time at NYU.
Graduate Student Life
Graduate Student Life at the Center for Student Life assists graduate students with finding resources on campus while also providing opportunities for graduate students across schools to engage with the NYU community. If you are a grad student, check out Graduate Life events to meet other grad students.
On-Campus Job
Working in a student position on-campus is a great way to meet other NYU students and staff members while also learning about the US workplace. Check out Handshake for resources to help you land a student position as well as listings of the positions available on-campus.
Student Government
The Student Government Assembly (SGA) is the overarching student government at NYU. They work with the NYU community to create the best university experience. The SGA consists of a large team of Student Senators, Council Presidents, Committee Chairs and Students that help advocate on behalf of students; create and further student-focused agendas; and lead new initiatives at the university.
Residential Life
The Office of Residential Life and Housing Services is here to connect you to communities within the University that align with your values and broaden your interests. If you live in a Residence Hall, you can join an organization, participate in leadership, or create your own program.
Global Spiritual Life (GSL)
GSL is a vibrant community at the forefront of international conversations on religion and spirituality. Their mission is to offer environments and tools for transformative multi-faith and spiritual encounters at NYU and beyond. Come take a free meditation or yoga class, meet with a chaplain from your faith background (or one you are interested in), join a faith-based club or worship service, a faith-inspired English language discussion group, or join them in interfaith activities open to the whole university. Find out more about GSL.
Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (CMEP)
CMEP offers a vast array of educational and social events, programs, and resources that aim to engage, support, empower, and celebrate students of color and those of historically marginalized and excluded groups—throughout NYU’s global network and around the world. Find out more about CMEP.
LGBTQ+ Center
The NYU LGBTQ+ Center creates a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to engage with and develop their understanding of LGBTQ+ communities through programs, events, learning and development, support, resource sharing, and consultation. Find out more about the LGBTQ+ Center.
