Common Issue #1: "Ungraded" Status in Grade Pull

If you are attempting to perform the grade pull from NYU Brightspace, but the Grade Mapping Status is "Ungraded" (see screenshot below), this is likely due to a discrepancy in which version of the final grade you are pulling from your NYU Brightspace course site.

Ungraded Mapping Status

To Resolve:

1. Navigate to your NYU Brightspace course site.

2. In your course site, click on the "Grades" header.

3. Within the Grades section, click on the "Settings" link in the upper right-hand corner.

4. You will see a header that reads, "Personal Display Options." Click on the "Calculation Options" tab.

5. Under the subsection "Final Grade Released," ensure that you make the appropriate Release selection between "Calculated Final Grade" or "Adjusted Final Grade." Select "Calculated Final Grade" if you intend to send the automatically calculated grade to the Albert grade roster. Select "Adjusted Final Grade" if you have manually adjusted grades that you wish to send to the Albert grade roster. Grade pull will only work from your course site if the appropriate Release value is selected.

6. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. Close or refresh your Albert grade roster, and then attempt the grade pull steps again.

Common Issue #2: Grades of "ERR" in Grade Pull

If the Grade Mapping Status columns shows "Success" but the actual grades being imported are "ERR" (Error) (see screenshot below), this could be the result of two possible configuration issues in your NYU Brightspace course site.

ERR Grade in Grade Pull

Possible Reason #1: Invalid Grade Scheme

Students should only receive letter grades as their final grades. If you are tabulating grades in NYU Brightspace using a numeric grade scheme, the grade pull will only accept letter grades.

1. Navigate to your NYU Brightspace course site.

2. In your course site, click on the "Grades" header.

3. Within the Grades section, click on the "Schemes" link.

4. In the Schemes List, ensure that you are not using the "Percentage" scheme (which will only tabulate a numeric final grade). Change this value to the most appropriate letter grade scheme. NOTE: When you select a letter grade scheme, you CAN modify the associations between numeric grades and letter grades.

5. If you have modified the scheme, be sure to save the data in NYU Brightspace and attempt the grade pull again.

Possible Reason #2: Grade Scheme Symbol Not Selected

In order for the grade pull to be successful, the Grade Scheme Symbol must be visible. To ensure this is configured properly, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your NYU Brightspace course site.

2. In your course site, click on the "Grades" header.

3. Within the Grades section, click on the "Settings" link in the upper right-hand corner.

4. In the "Course Display Options" tab, ensure that the "Grade Scheme Symbol" checkbox is checked. If checking this box, be sure to save the data in NYU Brightspace and attempt the grade pull again.

Please email grading@nyu.edu to report any issues you encounter with the grade pull process. Include your course details so that we can troubleshoot and assist as quickly as possible.
