About Lafayette Hall

The 80 Lafayette Street Residence Hall is located on the border between Chinatown and TriBeCa, an area rich in architectural beauty. The hall is in close proximity to the culturally significant neighborhoods of City Hall, Chinatown, Little Italy and trendy SoHo. Lafayette opened in Fall 1999, and houses nearly 1,100 upperclass students. Lafayette is home to 16 Resident Assistants, a Resource Center Assistant, and three Faculty Fellows-in-Residence. The team at Lafayette goes by the motto Live-Laf-Love!

The main lounge of Lafayette offers two large screen digital TVs for watching your favorite shows, or connecting a laptop or gaming system to gather around shared interests with friends. The lounge has tables and chairs for studying as well as a more quiet study lounge just off from the events area. There are three music practice rooms (one includes an upright piano), and a dance room located next to the main lounge. Vending machines can be found on the ground floor as well. Laundry rooms exist on every residential floor, except for the 18th. Each laundry room consists of three washers and three dryers which operate on a mobile app or card system separate from your NYU ID. Ask the team at the ground floor Resource Center about using the mobile app or laundry cards--we're happy to help! The mailroom is around the corner from the Resource Center, offering 24 hour access to your standard letter mail. Packages can be picked up from the Resource Center package room, open during scheduled operating hours.

Location Accessibility

This hall is located approximately 1.1 miles (1.8 km) from Washington Square Park. The closest NYU Shuttle stop is either at the building entrance on Lafayette St or at the corner of Canal and Centre Streets, depending on your direction of travel. 80 Lafayette is served by the Route A and Route B Shuttles.

The closest dining location is the Marketplace at Kimmel, located on Washington Square South between Thompson St and LaGuardia Place.
