Summer-only residents of NYU residence halls are not eligible for HBO GO or MAX GO service at this time.
How do I start watching?
- Check for your residence hall on the list above.
- Go to HBOGO.com or MAXGO.com and select New York University as your television provider.
- Ensure you are using the latest browser on your device.
- Follow the prompts to log in with your NYU NetID, create your user profile, and you’re ready to go! You’ll also receive a confirmation email when your account is set up.
Can I use HBO GO and MAX GO on my phone? What about other devices?
Yes, HBO GO and MAX GO available on most mobile devices as well as computers, Roku, Chromecast, game consoles, and smart TVs! You don’t have to be in your qualifying hall to watch on mobile devices or laptops; simply download the HBO GO and/or MAX GO app and log in. That means you can take the service with you all over the US, even on break. Roku, Chromecast, game consoles, smart TVs, and other streaming devices must be connected to an NYU network in order to access either service. To set up a device (such as a smart TV or Roku) on the NYU network, please contact NYU IT.
I tried to log in, but I got an error message.
This could mean that you’re not a resident of one of the qualifying halls listed above, that you are a summer-only resident, or that your console, streaming device, or television is not connected to an NYU-provided internet service. (On mobile devices and computers, you don't need to be on an NYU network.) Be sure to have the latest browser version on your device. Older browser versions often create errors.
During the start of each semester it may take up to 7 days before access is granted. If you just moved in to a qualifying dorm as a new resident or a transfer, this 7 day wait is also required. Early move-ins will not have access until 7 days after the semester starts.
If you still receive an error message, please submit a service request here. Please provide a detailed explanation of the problem you are experiencing and the error message that you receive. We'll need to know what device you are attempting to use and what browser you have. If possible, we suggest trying to access the service on another device. In your service request, please be sure to state your NYU NetID, without it, we are unable to assist until you provide us with one.
