New York University requires that students studying abroad as part of their educational program be covered under the NYU-sponsored health insurance plan administered by GeoBlue.  The school-sponsored GeoBlue NYU-Abu Dhabi program provides coverage worldwide, including in the United States. The GeoBlue coverage is essential and the cost is included in the student’s Bursar bill. Please note that purchase of student insurance through NYU Abu Dhabi is a mandatory requirement for enrollment.

Due to United Arab Emirates regulations, students will be enrolled in a separate local health insurance plan.

Within the UAE: Oman Insurance Company (OIC)

You will be enrolled in a student health insurance plan with local UAE and international coverage. The local UAE insurance is provided by Oman Insurance Company (OIC). You will receive your local health insurance card within the first weeks of arrival to campus.

IMPORTANT NOTE: By UAE law, Emirati students who are already enrolled in a UAE health insurance plan will not receive additional local insurance coverage. In addition, Non-Emirati students who are currently residing in the UAE under family sponsorship, or who are not on an NYU Sponsored visa, are not eligible for coverage under the NYU OIC plan. If you fall into either of these categories please contact the Health & Wellness Center (nyuad.healthcenter@nyu.edu) immediately to discuss your options.

In addition to the OIC Insurance ID Card and membership package, students will also receive a GeoBlue Insurance ID card and membership package shortly. Please carry your Insurance ID Cards with you at all times.

The GeoBlue NYU-Abu Dhabi Plans are effective from August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024.
