Plan ahead for safe and healthy travels!

The staff at the SHC Travel Medicine department are your travel medicine and vaccine specialists. They’re prepared to provide you with the latest health information and immunization services for your trip.

Travel Medicine Appointments

You should schedule your appointment as soon as you are accepted into a study away program, but no later than 4-6 weeks in advance of your trip - you may need time to obtain certain vaccines.

Remember to bring records of prior immunizations, if possible. This will avoid unnecessary cost and duplicating vaccines you may have already received.

You can schedule an appointment online or by calling (212) 443-1188.

Fees

There is no charge for the Travel Medicine consultation for NYU students.

While travel vaccinations are typically not covered by health insurance, the NYU-sponsored Student Health Insurance plan (Wellfleet) covers the travel immunizations recommended by the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Before Your Appointment

Review the NYU Medication Notice and write down questions you have about the recommended and required vaccines.

  • If you’re traveling to a location that has an NYU global site, visit nyu.edu/health/global for a list of recommended and required vaccines.
  • If you are traveling to a location that does not have an NYU global site, visit the CDC Travelers’ Health page for recommended and required vaccines.
