The Student Health Center (SHC) provides comprehensive medical services designed specifically to respond to the health and mental health needs of NYU students and promote a healthier, safer campus. As members of the NYU community, faculty and staff may utilize the following services at SHC.

Services We Provide

Urgent Care

Urgent Care services are available for first aid for work-related illnesses, work-related injuries, and work-required examinations. Please call (212) 443-1000 for more information.

Pharmacy

Faculty and staff can access our full-service retail Pharmacy which accepts many prescription plans. The SHC Pharmacy is Caremark Care Select pharmacy.

Optometry

Optometry services include routine eye exams and glasses and contact lenses. SHC participates with United Healthcare and EyeMed. Our full service retail eyewear shop offering a wide variety of frames, designer and discount lenses, sport lenses, contact lenses, and accessories.

Travel Medicine

Travel Medicine consultations are available by appointment for NYU work/business related travel. The consult includes the latest information about the country of your designated travel. Also provided are a large number of recommended vaccines including Hepatitis A, Varicella, Meningitis, and Yellow Fever. Consults and vaccines are available for a fee. Check with your insurance carrier regarding coverage for these services.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is available for job-related injuries (Workers' Compensation) as well as for rehabilitation of personal injuries. Services require a referral from your physician. SHC participates with UnitedHealthcare.

Fees and Payment

As a courtesy, SHC Patient Accounts will submit an itemized bill for services to the third party insurance carrier. However, the employee is responsible for knowing the terms of the health insurance policy and is ultimately responsible for payment of any balance not covered by the insurance plan.
