Advisement and Course Registration

As a new NYU student, you will work with an academic advisor who will help craft a schedule that fits your academic, career, and goals while meeting your school's requirements. You will meet with your advisor during orientation and work together throughout your time at NYU. To find contact information for your advisor, please visit the Undergraduate Advisement website.

Albert Academic Planner is an easy tool that provides you and your advisor the ability to plan the courses you need from your first term through graduation. Academic Planner is for planning purposes only, and you should always speak with your advisor for additional guidance and approvals.

When will I hear from my advisor?

While there is some variation, students should hear from the advising office by mid-to-late May. This may be from their specific advisor or from the centralized office.

When can I register for my first semester of classes?

While there is some variation, students can register for classes in mid-June.

School-Specific Orientation

In addition to exciting programs during Welcome Week, each school will host an orientation program that will introduce students to specific academic policies and procedures, their academic advisors, fellow classmates, as well as deans and directors who can help with academic and personal success. Stay tuned for more details in May regarding specific school orientations. Note that there is no summer orientation program for NYU students.
