Fraternities and sororities participate in new member education programs that promote student development and introduce new members to the domains that guide Fraternity and Sorority Life at NYU.

Designed and hosted by each chapter — with support and guidance from the Center for Student Life — these programs enhance a student's transition into college and their fraternity or sorority, while sharing knowledge, skills, and attitudes to succeed at NYU. In their new member program, all chapters aim for the following goals:

  1. Illuminate a chapter's history, values, and expectations
  2. Facilitate educational experiences
  3. Highlight academic, health and wellness, and other resources on campus
  4. Emphasize proper behavior and standards
  5. Communicate the University's anti-hazing policies
  6. Instill a desire for high standards for organizations and individuals
  7. Maintain openness to personal development experiences

New member programs for chapters are described below. Please note that chapters without a link to a program plan are not recruiting new members this semester.
