How would a professor manage the accommodation of "permission to take reasonable breaks without time penalty during exams" for an exam which is being proctored remotely?
For students approved for "reasonable breaks without time penalty" who are taking remotely-proctored exams, our recommendation is that 15 minutes be added for each hour of exam time. For example: For a 2 hour exam, the student would be allowed 2 hours and 30 minutes. Other options may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
How do I accommodate for a time limit extended take home exam?
Take home exams in which the exam is essentially the same as the exam in the classroom, and for which the time limit has already been significantly extended beyond the time limit for classroom presentation (i.e., 24 hours for a 1-2 hour exam), are generally not given additional time extensions (i.e., 1.5x or 2x). Requests for additional time in those cases will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please contact your Accessibility Specialist with any questions or concerns.
