Diplomas

Diplomas are mailed to the permanent address on file about eight weeks after the degrees have been awarded. Please be sure to verify and update your address in the system, since diplomas are held only one year from the date of conferment. You may update your address online on Albert, in person at the Student Services Center or by mail with a signed notice to the Office of the University Registrar at P.O. Box 910, New York, NY 10276-0910 or fax # (212)995-4558 respectively.

If you wish to pick up your diploma, you may fill out a diploma card at the Student Services Center at 25 West 4th Street indicating that you would like to pick up your graduation document and the address and phone number where we may contact you, when the document arrives from the printer's. You may also mail or fax a signed statement with the information requested above to the Office of the University Registrar at P.O. Box 910, New York, NY 10276-0910 or fax # (212)995-4558 respectively.

Diplomas of students in arrears will be held until their financial obligations to the University are fulfilled and they have been cleared by the Bursar. You may contact the Bursar's Office at (212)998-2806 to clear arrears or to discuss your financial status at the University.

The diploma is a valuable document and deserves special care against loss or damage. Representing expert workmanship of the engraver and printer on the finest parchment paper obtainable, it is warranted to resist shrinkage, corrugation, and age discoloration. As an aid to preservation, it is recommended that the document be kept in a flat position, preferably in a frame. If displayed, it should be in some location not regularly exposed to direct sunlight.

Diplomas are issued only once, subject to the exceptions noted below. In order to assure the absolute integrity of the document, the University will under no circumstances issue a duplicate of an outstanding original.

Replacement Diplomas

In the event your diploma is lost or damaged, the University will supply, upon proper deposition and the payment of a fee to cover the cost, a replacement diploma. Before issuing the replacement we require the return of the damaged diploma, or such portions of it as are available; or, in the case of loss or complete destruction, the submission of a notarized affidavit. You may pick up the form of affidavit at the Student Services Center or download it here. A check or money order in the amount of $60.00 payable to New York University should accompany your order.
