Note: This information applies to NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai students considering a semester in New York. Students from other colleges and universities who are interested in enrolling as a visiting student at NYU's campus in New York should consider programs hosted by NYU's Office of University Programs.

Approximately 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students reside in the 23 residence halls that are spread out across lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Each residence hall is led by a leadership team including a Residence Hall Director, Residence Hall Resource Manager and Residence Hall Assistant Director. In addition, each building has Resident Assistants to provide assistance and community building initiatives for residential students.
NYU residence halls do not provide students with linens during the fall or spring semesters. You can purchase your linens upon arrival or add them to your packing. Remember that NYU dorm rooms are equipped with Twin XL beds so you need to purchase Twin XL sheets.
Below is a list of stores where you can purchase your linens in NY:
Each residence hall is equipped with washers and dryers for laundry. You can speak to your specific Residence Hall Resource Center for locations of machines in each building. Most machines accept payment through the Hercules Laundry App, which can be connected to most major credit card providers (Hercules App download instructions: PDF 750KB).
Moving to New York City and an unfamiliar residence hall is a significant transition. To help you adjust, you should familiarize yourself with the on-campus housing policies, your rights, and your responsibilities.
All students living in NYU housing will receive a Residence Hall sticker for your NYU ID. This will allow you access to all NYU Housing facilities. There are Guest Policies that you must adhere to when visiting other dorms or having guests.
Wireless internet is available in all of our residence halls. NYU Wi-Fi is NYU's wireless network which provides secure wireless access to NYU's network inside residence halls and virtually all other NYU facilities. You can also register a digital media device (such as a game console, Apple TV, Google TV, or Roku) for use on NYU Media, the residence hall network for these devices.
NYU Landline Telephone Service is available upon request. To request landline service for the academic year, please complete the telephone service form. Students living in residence halls will need to purchase an international calling card to place international calls.
You can have mail and packages sent to your residence hall only after you have checked into housing. Be sure to use the correct address:
