In Spring 2020, NYU Los Angeles launched its Mentorship Program, a concentrated effort to unite LA-based alumni with current NYU LA students. In the semesters since, over 100 area alumni have volunteered to act as mentors, including some who have won Emmys and who work at companies such as Walt Disney Animation, United Talent Agency, and Marvel.
We pair each interested student with a mentor whose career and areas of interest align with the student’s. Mentors and mentees are provided guidelines about how to best make the relationship work.
We conclude each semester with a Mentor/Mentee mixer, also inviting the volunteers who we did not pair with a student in order to offer a broader networking opportunity for all.
During the program, your mentor is asked to have at least 3 virtual meetings or calls with their paired mentee over the course of the semester.
Any student taking at least one class or enrolled in the LA Internship Track is eligible to apply.
