New York University has many years experience of welcoming first year students to its academic centers and London is a great place to start your University life. With the city itself as a back drop to your classes, London will provide a rich cultural and educational resource as well as a fun place to start your college life. You will join approximately 100 other freshman students on a bespoke programme.

Program Overview

The first year programme provides an academically rigorous introduction to studying at college level. Classes are small enough for you to benefit from a more personalised level of attention than you might otherwise receive. The program is tightly structured to ensure you make the most of your time in London.

Throughout the semester, NYU London plans day and weekend trips that introduce students to British culture by visiting many of the landmarks and monuments of London and beyond. Many of these trips are organised in conjunction with first year programme faculty and supplement classroom teaching. Students are also able to take advantage of a range of locally based activities organised staff.

NYU London students also receive Associate Membership to the University of London Student Union, or ULU, giving access to the extensive range of facilities and services offered by the University of London Student Union, or ULU. This is a great way to meet local students and experience the life in a European university. All first year students must participate in a community activity so if you have a particular interest, whether a sport or hobby, you’ll be pleased to know that you can continue it in London.

Students live in a newly renovated residence just off Russell Square, within walking distance of the shops, supermarket and cinema of The Brunswick Center, the public parks and gardens of Mecklenburgh Square, and to all forms of transportation. The residence is a few minutes walk from the academic center in Bedford Square in the heart of academia, surrounded by the universities and colleges of the University ofLondon, and a short walk from London's West End Theatre district as well as famous shopping areas of Covent Garden and Oxford Street.
All apartments, which are shared by up to 8 students, are fully furnished with an individual bed, desk and bureau. Each apartment has a shared living space/kitchen with cooking utensils. Students prepare meals in the apartment kitchens or eat out at the numerous restaurants in the nearby neighborhood. Each apartment has a bathroom with shower only. The residence also features television lounge for study and leisure, and a room with laundry facilities. Wireless internet in the building is accessible in the apartments and communal areas.

A residence manager is on-site as well as residential life staff providing advice, guidance, support, programming and residential life activities. There is also a 24-hour security staff, as well as a controlled, electronic entry system and CCTV.
