REQUIRED:
Event promotion is primarily conducted digitally (through email, social media, and web-based marketing)
Printed materials, such as posters and handouts, use tree-free or FSC-certified recycled content paper
Banners are of a durable material and designed to be used from year-to-year

ENCOURAGED:
❒ Large-scale posters are printed or mounted on cardboard (not foamcore)
❒ Conference information and agendas are made available primarily on an accessible app or web platform

FOOD & CATERING:

FOOD WASTE

REQUIRED:
Catering order is designed to minimize food waste (see Resource Library for guidance)
Leftover food is donated to students or a local food pantry

ENCOURAGED:
❒ Small plates are provided to guests (to curb food waste)

PACKAGING

REQUIRED:
All cups/glasses are reusable, recyclable, or compostable (*see note about compost bins)
All beverages are served in reusable containers or dispensers
In Kimmel: Food is served on reusable or compostable dishes

ENCOURAGED:
Outside Kimmel: Food is served on reusable dishes, or compostable dishes where compost collection is available (*see note about compost bins)
❒ Food is served on reusable, communal platters with no individually packaged items

FOOD

REQUIRED:
Menu entrees include vegetarian and vegan dishes

ENCOURAGED:
❒ Menu items feature plant-based dishes by default
❒ Menu items feature organic and local ingredients

REQUIRED:
Landfill, recycling, and compost bins (*where available) are located together and labeled with proper signage
*Compost bins are used for events in the Kimmel Center or GCASL
Reusable name badges are distributed AND collected for future use

DECORATIONS

REQUIRED:
Decorations are reusable and/or rentable
No balloons (latex, mylar, helium filled, non-helium filled)
No disposable tablecloths (made of paper, plastic, vinyl)

ENCOURAGED:
❒ Use only potted plants or cut flowers that are grown organically and/or domestically

GIVEAWAYS

REQUIRED:
Items have utility (serve a purpose/function)
Items are considered long-lasting (can be used for 3+ years without needing to be replaced)
Items are made from sustainable materials (such as cloth, bamboo, stainless steel, glass, cork)

ENCOURAGED:
❒ Items are purchased from certified B Corporations
❒ Apparel is made with organic and/or recycled-content materials
