The NYU COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team

Against a backdrop of rising COVID-19 case rates and the increased risk of transmission associated with spending time in indoor settings where people are unmasked, the University wants to remind NYU community members of important actions you should take to reduce the spread of COVID-19 to your friends and family, within your community, and throughout NYU:

If you start experiencing symptoms of COVID-19

Symptoms of COVID-19 can be similar to those of a cold, the flu, or another respiratory infection. It is essential that anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 — even mild symptoms that may feel like a routine cold — stay home and complete the COVID-19 reporting form to notify the COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team. Whether symptoms are due to COVID-19 or other respiratory infections, staying home while sick prevents the spread of infection to other people.

If you were exposed to someone with COVID-19

Complete the COVID-19 reporting form. You will receive instructions from CPRT based on your vaccination and symptom status. Most people who are fully vaccinated do not need to quarantine following contact with someone with COVID-19.

Take advantage of NYU’s discretionary testing program

NYU testing is available at no charge to all students, faculty, and employees who wish to take a COVID-19 test. Optimally, it should be used by individuals who were recently in a higher transmission setting.

Get your COVID-19 booster and flu shots

It’s safe to get both vaccines at the same time and both vaccines are readily available at most pharmacies, urgent care clinics, or through your healthcare provider:
