A Letter from NYU Senior Leadership about the COVID-19 Booster Requirement (Students)
Date: January 20, 2022
To: NYU Students
From: NYU Senior Leadership
I am writing to you to express my deep concern that you missed the deadline to upload proof that you complied with NYU’s booster requirement.
The University believes a booster vaccination is a vital public health measure for the safety of the NYU community. We have always looked out for one another in our school, and I see getting the booster as an act of collective responsibility — by getting it, we help keep ourselves and one another healthy. The vast majority of NYU students, faculty, administrators, and staff have already uploaded, making your situation something of a troubling outlier.
In addition, I am worried about the consequences you will face for non-compliance. The University’s policy around non-compliance is necessarily strict: you will be unable to enter any NYU facility until you upload documentation of your booster, including buildings where your classes are taking place, or to participate in any University activity. Ultimately, non-compliance will lead to de-enrollment and loss of University housing. Every member of our school community contributes to the vibrancy of our educational environment; I don’t want to see anyone excluded, and I don’t want your academic progress in any way thwarted or disrupted.
For a host of reasons, it’s really important that you get the booster if you haven’t already done so and upload proof right away. Please don’t wait any longer. And if there’s an issue, get in touch with us right away, and let’s try to get things sorted out and get you on track.
With genuine concern,
NYU Senior Leadership
