DATE: September 2, 2021
TO:  Domestic and International Students Not Compliant with NYU's Vaccine Requirement
FROM: Dr. Carlo Ciotoli, MD, MPA, Exec. Lead, NYU COVID Prevention & Response Team

Dear Student:

We are looking forward to your arrival this fall or, if you are already on campus, to seeing you soon.

Required Vaccination Against COVID-19

The University’s records indicate that you are not in compliance with the University’s vaccination requirement, which applies to all NYUers.

All members of the NYU community must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of the Fall 2021 semester, and must upload proof of their vaccination. If you have not yet gotten vaccinated, please do so immediately.

Consequences of Noncompliance

For the health and safety of our community, and the broader New York community of which we are a part, we take compliance seriously.

At present, since you have not yet complied with the University’s vaccination requirement, you do NOT have access to NYU buildings—meaning you will not be able to attend in-person classes or participate in any University-sponsored activities.

Students who remain noncompliant with the vaccination requirements will begin to be de-enrolled from in-person classes on Wednesday, September 8.

Special Information for International Students

If you are an international student who has already arrived in the United States, and wish to remain enrolled, you must either immediately:

  1. Upload your proof of vaccination; or
  2. If you have not yet been vaccinated, schedule your vaccination at the NYU Vaccine Clinic; or
  3. If you believe you have a legitimate medical or religious reason for being exempt from the vaccination requirement, you must submit an exemption request.

If you are an international student who has not yet entered the United States, but plan on taking in-person or blended classes this fall, you must immediately take the following steps.

  1. If you have been vaccinated, upload your proof of vaccination; if you have not been vaccinated, schedule your vaccination at the NYU Vaccine Clinic; or if you believe you have a legitimate medical or religious reason for being exempt from the vaccination requirement, you must submit an exemption request.
  2. Email the Office of Global Services (ogs@nyu.edu) with the following information: Your name, “N” number, visa status and travel itinerary, and a confirmation that you have either been vaccinated and have uploaded your proof of vaccinations, or a copy of your vaccination appointment confirmation following your arrival. If you believe you have a legitimate medical or religious reason for being exempt from the vaccination requirement, you must  submit an exemption request right away, and let the Office of Global Services know you have done so.

Failure to take these steps means we will begin to de-enroll you from in-person classes for the fall semester.
