NYU requires that you be fully vaccinated and to upload proof of your vaccination before you begin any in-person courses or NYU sponsored activities in 2022.

MMR and Meningitis

In accordance with New York State Public Health Law and NYU policy, students taking six credits or more are required to comply with the measles/mumps/rubella (MMR) and meningitis vaccination requirements (visit here for more information on MMR and meningitis requirements).

All NYU students — in the United States and at all NYU Study Away sites — are required to be fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed COVID-19 vaccine for the 2021–22 academic year (visit here for more information on the COVID-19 vaccine requirements).

Deadline for Uploading Proof of Vaccinations

Because each upload is individually reviewed by NYU health personnel, it is also vital for us to get proof of your vaccination early enough so that everyone can be cleared by the start of the spring semester. So, we are setting a deadline of December 15, 2021 to upload your proof of vaccination.

You Should Upload Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination As Soon As You Receive Your Final Vaccine Dose

You should upload your proof of vaccination as soon as you have received the final dose of your FDA- authorized or WHO-listed vaccine (eg: the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer or Sinopharm, the first dose of Johnson & Johnson); you do NOT need to wait the additional two weeks until you are fully vaccinated to upload your proof of vaccination. The earlier you upload, the better.

You can find instructions for uploading your proof of vaccination here.

International Students Who Cannot Access FDA-Authorized or WHO-Listed Vaccines

We recognize that some international students will have difficulty or even be altogether unable to get access to FDA-authorized or WHO-listed vaccines, or may be unable to do so in time to have their proof of vaccination uploaded by December 15.

We are prepared for this contingency for those students studying in the US. Rest assured that we will be able to arrange for students in this situation to be vaccinated and meet NYU’s COVID-19 vaccination requirements after their arrival.

For additional detailed guidance related to vaccinations and potential quarantine requirements for those who are located outside of the United States, see here.

Important Note for Students in Online Programs

NYU's vaccination requirements generally apply to all students.

  • Students taking only online courses are required to be vaccinated, and to submit proof of their vaccination, if they plan to access any NYU buildings or participate in any in-person University-sponsored activities, whether on- or off-campus, such as internships, practicums, field placements, immersion experiences, field trips, and events.
  • The only exception to NYU’s COVID-19 vaccination requirement is for students enrolled in only online courses who engage in no in-person University-sponsored activities.

The University also encourages students in online programs who do not engage in NYU-sponsored in-person activities to get vaccinated.

The deadline to comply with NYU’s vaccination policy for COVID-19, MMR, and meningitis vaccinations is December 15, 2021.
