A Letter from NYU Senior Leadership about the COVID-19 Booster Requirement
Date: January 14, 2022
To: NYU Employees
From: NYU Senior Leadership
The effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our community safe is not over, and we all have a part to play.
For that reason, NYU is requiring all eligible employees to get a COVID-19 booster shot and to upload proof by January 18, 2022 (the vast majority of the NYU community is currently eligible; if you are not, you are required to get a booster shot and upload proof of your vaccine within seven days of becoming eligible).
I am writing to you because the University’s records reflect that you have not yet uploaded proof of a booster vaccination, and the January 18 upload deadline is a few days away. It concerns me, because the health of this community is a collective responsibility, and it is my hope that none of my colleagues experiences the consequences of non-compliance.
In addition to these consequences (limiting your access to university buildings, restricting your ability to eat on campus, etc.), while you remain non-compliant with the booster mandate, you will be required to test on a regular basis. In order to enter your place of employment – the only building to which you will have access – you will be required to have a negative COVID test within the seven days prior to entering. For this reason, if you have not yet received a booster, you should make arrangements to obtain the booster and upload proof as soon as possible. If you do not, you must arrange to be on campus within the seven days prior to your return to work in order to be tested for COVID, as you will need to receive a negative result before accessing your workplace. Information on testing can be found here.
The overwhelming majority of our community - 99% - complied with the vaccine requirement we had in the fall, and it helped make us safer. The CDC recommends a booster as an effective means of enhancing protection against COVID-19, as well as to protect against serious illness in the event that one becomes infected with the virus. I am asking you and everyone within (insert school or unit) to get boosted, if you have not already done so, and to upload your booster information as soon as possible.
The NYU community has a praiseworthy history of looking out for one another. In confronting this latest COVID surge, keeping each other safe must be a collective effort; all of us have a responsibility to one another here.
I know the NYU community can rely on you.

If you believe you have received this in error because you have already uploaded, please remember that it takes 2-3 days for your uploaded proof to be verified by someone on the Immunization Team. Please wait 4-5 days after you upload and check your status by logging into the Student Health Center Portal, making your way to the page with your name, and looking for “immunizations” in the navigation column on the left. If you see the date of your booster shot in your immunization history, then you are all set.
