Faculty

In 2020-2021, the classroom experience will be just as robust as in other years.  However, in keeping with our plans to increase physical distancing and reduce density, there will be fewer people in each classroom. Physical distancing in classroom settings will be 6 ft (2 m) between students; 10 ft (3 m) between the wall and first chair.  This allows a ~3 ft (~1 m) teaching zone and 6 ft (2 m) between faculty and student.  Look for signage indicating current maximums.

Disclaimer: Students of NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU School of Law, and NYU College of Dentistry should follow the specific directions shared by their school leadership.

NYU is helping to keep the community safe by designing classrooms to accommodate physical distancing. If you are teaching an in-person or blended course for the Fall 2020 semester, at the start of the first in-person class please ask in-person students to select a seat that they will use for the duration of the semester. Students should then record their seat selection using the new Classroom Seating Assignments tool in NYU Classes. You can view, record, or edit student seat assignments for your course section(s), e.g. editing or moving seats based on disability accommodations.

Please note that seats are numbered and should not be moved to another location in the classroom.

For more information and step-by-step instructions please visit the Classroom Seating Assignments webpage.
