Is there a virtual option for students who are enrolled but aren't vaccinated?

At NYU’s New York City campus, teaching modality is primarily in-person instruction. Access to NYU buildings and participation in any NYU-sponsored activities, whether on or off campus, requires compliance with the vaccine requirement—which includes a COVID-19 booster shot if you are eligible—unless you are granted a medical or religious exemption and remain compliant with additional safety protocols.

If you are taking only online courses and will not access any NYU buildings or participate in any in person NYU-sponsored activities this academic year, whether on or off campus (this includes internships, practicums, field placements, immersion experiences, field trips and events), you are not required to comply with NYU’s vaccination requirement.

I already had COVID-19. Do I still need to show proof of vaccination for in-person attendance?

Yes. You are also required to receive a COVID-19 booster shot once you are eligible and by NYU's deadline.

I am enrolled in all online courses. Do I need to be vaccinated?

The only exception to NYU’s vaccine requirement is for students enrolled in only online courses who engage in no in-person University-sponsored activities. Students taking only online courses are required to be vaccinated—which includes a COVID-19 booster shot if you are eligible— and to submit proof of their vaccination, if they plan to access any NYU buildings or participate in any in-person University-sponsored activities, whether on- or off-campus, such as internships, practicums, field placements, immersion experiences, field trips, and events.
