Episode 143: Anne-Marie McLaughlin and Andrew McMahan, NYU Campus Safety Global Resiliency and Security

Anne-Marie McLaughlin is the Director of Emergency Management and Continuity at NYU where she directs ongoing resilience-building emergency management and continuity efforts. Prior to joining NYU in February of 2018, she served as the Emergency Manager at the University of Massachusetts Boston since 2010. She is former Chair of the IAEM Access and Whole Community Inclusion Caucus and the current Chair of the Universities and Colleges Caucus. Her certifications include the CEM, MEP and CBCP. She holds two Master’s Degrees, one in Business Continuity Management from Norwich University and one in English from the University of Massachusetts Boston.  She is a graduate of Harvard University’s National Preparedness Leadership Initiative. She has developed, conducted and/or evaluated dozens of university emergency exercises, including functional and full-scale active threat, Emergency Dispensing Site, and Public Affairs exercises. Additionally, she has assisted with full-scale SWAT and police response exercises conducted by the Massachusetts State Police, Massachusetts Department of Transportation/Transit Police, and Urban Shield exercises held in Boston. 

Andrew McMahan, MPH, MEP, AMBCI has over 20 years emergency management experience in crisis management, business continuity, and homeland security. In his current role as Associate Vice President of Global Resiliency and Security for New York University (NYU) he oversees Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Global security contracts, and Situational Awareness for NYU New York and Global Campuses. Prior to coming to NYU Andrew was Director of Emergency Management and Operations at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), and oversaw disaster and continuity planning, training, exercises and response across the largest transportation agency in North America.
