Classroom Seating Assignments
NYU is helping to keep the community safe by designing classrooms to accommodate physical distancing and asking students who are joining us on campus for in-person classes to select a seat to use for the duration of the semester. The Classroom Seating Assignments tool in NYU's learning management systems allows students to record their seat preference, while instructors can view and edit seat assignments for their course section(s). Please note that seats are numbered and should not be moved to another location in the classroom.
Students who require disability accommodations, please contact your instructor before class to determine reasonable accommodations in the classroom.
Disclaimer: Students of NYU Abu Dhabi, NYU School of Law, and NYU College of Dentistry should follow the specific directions shared by their school leadership.
If you are an instructor who is teaching an in-person or blended course for the spring 2021 semester, at the start of the first in-person class please ask students to select a seat that they will use for the duration of the semester. Students should then immediately record their seat selection using the new Classroom Seating Assignments tool located in the left menu of NYU Classes. If you are using NYU Brightspace, the tool is located in the top navigation bar under "More Tools". You can also log into the tool to view, record, or edit student seat assignments for your course section(s), e.g. editing or moving seats based on disability accommodations.
Please note that students with disabilities may contact you to discuss classroom and seating accommodations. Please ensure you have the accommodations statement from the Moses Center for Student Accessibility in your syllabus.
If you are enrolled in an in-person or blended course for the spring 2021 semester and will be attending in person you will be asked at the start of the first in-person class to find a seat that you will use for the duration of the semester. Once you have selected a seat, use the new Classroom Seating Assignments tool in your NYU Classes, or in select cases NYU Brightspace, to record your seat preference. Your instructor will then be able to view and edit your seat selection.
If you require disability accommodations, please contact your instructor prior to the first day of in-person class. For additional support, check out the Moses Center for Student Accessibility for information on equal educational opportunity and participation for students of all abilities.
