In-person Facility Use - General Information

The LaGuardia Studio returns to in-person appointments for fall 2021.

  • The Green NYU Daily Screener Pass will be required for facility entry and all in-person appointments as proof of NYU’s Covid-related compliances.
  • In-person service appointments will be scheduled during the LGS business hours and at least 24 hours in advance of the appointment.
  • Face coverings are required.
  • Social distancing will be maintained during on-site service appointments.
  • Group facility visits for orientations and tours will be handled as remote events during the fall term.

Remote Service Features and Curbside Access - General Information

The LaGuardia Studio will continue to offer remote appointments and curbside access.

  • Curbside access requires an appointment and needs to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Upon arrival for your scheduled appointment, call 212-998-3454 and wait outside for a LaGuardia Studio staff member to facilitate the service arrangements.
  • Service functions for curbside access include:
    • Pickup of completed 3D Printing service production job orders.
    • Drop-off of materials for pending 3D Scanning service job orders.
    • Pickup of scan materials and archived 3D scan geometry files.
  • All facility visits, including orientations and tours, will be handled as remote events.
  • Remote service and Q&A consultation appointments will be conducted via NYU Zoom and need to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. To schedule an appointment, please email lgs@nyu.edu or call 212-998-3454.
  • Required job order files must be transferred 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment.

3D Printing Service Details

  • In-person appointment requests must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Remote appointment requests must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance and will be conducted as NYU Zoom sessions. Clients will be provided a Zoom link in the LGS Google Calendar appointment invitation.
  • Appointments will include a digital review of geometry files, planning or correction recommendations, printer and material assignments, and price quotes if print ready.
  • Staff will provide instructions for any repairs required to correct geometry file issues in preparation for job order submission. An additional appointment may be necessary to review repaired files.
  • Clients will need to approve job cost to proceed with production, either by sign-off on the 3D Printing Service job order form during in-person appointments, or by email to lgs@nyu.edu.
  • Payment is required in full in advance of production. Please see payment details.
  • In the case of production complications, staff will schedule a Zoom appointment to review any required adjustments to resolve the issues and ensure completion of job order production.
  • Clients will need to schedule an appointment for in-person or curbside pick-up of tests or final production at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Post-processing is limited to cleaning.
  • Zoom appointments may be recorded to ensure that job order details are captured.

3D Scanning Service Details

  • In-person appointment requests must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Remote appointment requests must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance and will be conducted as NYU Zoom sessions. Clients will be provided a Zoom link in the LGS Google Calendar appointment invitation.
  • Appointments will include a digital review of objects with scan details, measurements and job order pricing.
  • Clients should provide photos or a screen capture of objects with measurement notes included.
  • Clients should specify if return of scan objects is not desired at the completion of production.
  • Clients will need to approve job cost to proceed with production, either by sign-off on the 3D Scanning Service job order form during in-person appointments, or by email to lgs@nyu.edu.
  • Payment is required in full in advance of production. Please see payment details.
  • Staff will schedule a Zoom appointment to review any scan issues to ensure completion of the job order production.
  • Completed job order scan files will be digitally delivered unless curbside pick-up is requested.
  • Clients will need to schedule an appointment 24 hours in advance for curbside pick-up of scanned objects or archived scan files.
  • Zoom appointments may be recorded to ensure that job order details are captured.
  • In-person 3D scanning for head, body or objects requiring the presence of a conservator will not be available through the fall term. 

Payment Details

  • Job order payment is required in full before production starts.
  • Payment will be handled by phone. Please call 212-998-3454 to make arrangements for the transaction.
  • Payment will be limited to credit or debit cards only.
  • Payment terms include grant payments where applicable.
