NYU Groups (Google)
Create Groups Faster!
NYU Groups' new automated request form allows anyone with an NYU Email to create a new Group in 30 minutes or less!
NYU Groups (Google) allows you to create email aliases, mailing lists, discussion boards, and shared mailboxes with other NYU Email users. Students, faculty, and staff looking to facilitate large-scale discussion among clubs, classes, and colleagues should take advantage of this Google App.
Get Started
To create a Group for your community, begin by filling out the ServiceLink request form with the name of your group ending in @nyu.edu, a primary and secondary group owner address, and a list of members. For the fastest Group creation turnaround time, make sure your Group's email address is descriptive of your group and contains only letters, numbers, periods, and hyphens.
Attention Faculty!
Looking to create a Group to communicate with students in your courses? Create your Group through Brightspace to ensure an up-to-date class list and to easily share Drive files, Calendar events, and more Google resources. Get started through the NYU Google Groups widget on your Brightspace course's home screen and visit the ServiceLink knowledge base for more information.
Saying Goodbye to a Group
Graduating? Leaving a club? Passing the torch? Whatever the reason for changes to a Group's leadership, be sure to transfer ownership responsibilities before departing. If you're retiring your Group's email alias altogether, you should set an auto-reply email notifying users of this change three to six months before closing the account. Check out the knowledge base or Google help page for details on leaving a Group, removing members, and retiring a Groups email alias.
