De Angela L. Duff

De Angela L. Duff is currently an Associate Vice Provost at New York University (NYU) and an Industry Professor in Integrated Digital Media (IDM) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering in Brooklyn. She was formerly the Co-Director of Integrated Digital Media (IDM) from 2013-2018. Teaching in higher education since 1999, she is very passionate about educating students and developing higher education curriculum at the intersection of design, art and technology. She has also been in higher education administration since 2009. As an Associate Vice Provost, she assists and reviews work on online courses and degrees, and other technology-enhanced education; assists improvements in communication, coordination, and outcomes of teaching and learning centers managed by the Provost's Office; assists the development and maintenance of communications for the Center for Faculty Advancement; and works on University-wide initiatives sponsored by the Provost's Office. As program director and faculty, she has authored, supervised, and taught courses such as Graduate Thesis, Senior Thesis, Professional Practices, Ideation & Prototyping, Creative Coding, Interactive Storytelling, Motion Graphics, Visual Communication Studio, and many others.

Her mission is to share her passion for music, photography, and technology with others. She curates music symposia and produces, co-hosts, and edits the Prince & Prince-related podcasts for Grown Folks Music. In March 2019, she organized the *Prince BATDANCE* symposium at Spelman and in 2018 she also organized the *EYE NO Prince Lovesexy* & *Betty Davis They Say I'm Different *symposia at NYU. She is currently organizing her next Prince symposium for 2020, *DirtyMind40BK/GraffitiBridge30BK*. She speaks about music, design, and technology at numerous conferences internationally. She has spoken at the Prince from MPLS symposium, Purple Reign Conference, EYEO, Black Portraitures IV, III, II & II: Revisited, NYC's Creative Tech Week & Raising The Bar, AIGA's Social Studies and Massaging Media 2 Conferences, and HOW's Annual Design Conference. She has judged Eyebeam's Trust Residency, Tribeca Film Institute's New Media Fund, and HOW's interactive design competition. Her work has been featured in publications such as HOW and Print magazines, and the books, Now Loading and www.animation: Animation Design for the World Wide Web. De Angela holds an MFA in Studio Art (Photography) from MiCA, a BFA in Graphic Design from Georgia State University and a BS in Textiles from Georgia Tech. You can view her past and present work at
