The Many Paths and Career Possibilities in the Data Space

This panel discussion explores career paths in data, and the significance of data in our day-to-day work. The panel of NYU data professionals shared their experiences and career journeys. Participants also shared information on professional development, including hat assignments. The May 28, 2020 panel was facilitated by Addis Crooks-Jones (Senior Director, Information and Analytics Services, Enterprise Data Management, NYU IT).

The panelists were: Kasturi Sen (Data Governance Service Lead, UDW Business Intelligence, NYU IT), Lisa Bessim (Project Lead, UDW Business Intelligence, NYU IT), Janet Kwok (Associate Director, Enrollment Strategies for Positioning and Benchmarking, University Enrollment Management), Chrissy Maloney (Senior Business Analyst, UDW Business Intelligence, NYU IT), Lei Millman (Senior Systems Analyst, Information and Analytics UDW Business Intelligence, NYU IT), Johnny Wu (Project Lead, Data Infrastructure Services, NYU IT), and Jeff Worrall (Project Leader, Enterprise Data Warehousing, NYU IT).


WIT Presents: Strictly Speaking with NYU Toastmasters

WIT collaborated with NYU Toastmasters on this event that builds participants’ communication skills. The mission of Toastmasters is to provide a supportive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.

Managing Work Life at NYU

Grace Cosachov Protos, the Executive Director of the NYU Work Life Office, led the event and discussion. She explained the range of services offered by the Work Life Office. And with a written exercise, she helped participants develop goals to improve their work-life balance.

Working Mothers at NYU

This Continue the Conversation lunch and learn focused on the experiences of working mothers at NYU. Guest speakers included: Monica de Jesus from the NYU Working Mothers Support Group; Maria Ramirez from the NYU Mothers of Color Support Group; and former NYU IT employee Ann Malevet. They shared their experiences balancing family, work responsibilities, and continuing education. Participants offered invaluable feedback on how to improve the resources available for all working mothers at NYU.
