Reduce your digital storage
Spring is the perfect time to clean up your cloud storage and emails. Delete. Dedupe. Unsubscribe…but be sure to follow business policies and be thoughtful about shared docs.
Print only when necessary
If you don’t have to print a doc, don’t. If you must, use two-sided, B&W printing when you can. Learn more
Use energy saving tips
Optimizing your device settings impacts how much energy is consumed across NYU. Every computer that’s left on overnight costs $50-100/year to power. There are thousands of computers on NYU’s campus, and shutting them off when you're not using them can save so much! Here are tips for greening your daily workflow.
- Turn off monitors and other peripheral items (printers, etc.) when not in use
- Computers and monitors should be set to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity
- Use smart power strips (when available) capable of automating efficient energy practices
Recycle tech equipment
Look for our bins to collect tech scraps and to donate reusable devices (but don’t mix them up!)
NYU IT Service Desk is available 24x7. Please email if not urgent.
