Password Expired or Forgotten? Visit the NYU Start Page

The NYU Start Page Enables You to Manage Your NYU Password and Accounts
NYU IT requires NetID-associated passwords be changed at least once a year to maintain account security. The NYU Start page is where you can go to manage your password and other NYU-NET account information.
Incorrect Password
If you try to log in to an NYU service and receive an “incorrect password” error message, first be sure that Caps Lock is off, that you entered the correct NetID, and that you accurately typed your password. Passwords often have to be entered without being able to see what you are typing, so typos are among the most common causes of authentication failure.
Resetting a Forgotten or Expired Password
If retrying your NetID password does not work, or if it has expired and you need to select a new one, you can reset your password using one of two methods:
- Select “forgot my password” to send a reset link to your non-NYU email through which you can access your account and set a new password.
- If you have not set up a secondary email address, contact the NYU IT Service Desk. Once you provide your eight-digit University ID, you will be able to reset your password and hint.
Additional Password Reset Information
- When resetting your password, follow the NetID password requirements.
- Remember that resetting your NetID password will not change your NYU Google Services password.
You will receive three email notifications prior to your annual password expiration. Act promptly to avoid being temporarily locked out of your account.
