NYU Global Trailblazer Award
The NYU Global Trailblazer Award celebrates and honors individuals who have both contributed significantly to their fields and have created new opportunities and pathways for themselves and others. The Global Trailblazer Award aims to highlight innovative, game-changing work that helps us imagine and realize a more inclusive and equitable, “new different.” Each Trailblazer Award is designated a theme or focus area (e.g., arts, scholarship etc.) or is named after a leader or historical trailblazer in efforts to highlight the lineage of innovation and change making in global inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and access.
Dorothy Irene Height Faculty Award
The Dorothy Irene Height Faculty Award recognizes members of the NYU community whose lives are stellar examples of engaging research and innovations to imagine, transform, and act for the increased equity, access, and possibilities for all womxn. Dorothy Irene Height was a graduate of NYU (Steinhardt ‘32, ‘33) and led with a global vision, while simultaneously maintaining an acute focus on creating equity and justice initiatives. She navigated intersectional forms of oppression and was able to thrive, forge paths, and create spaces to carry on and escalate collective action throughout the NYU community and beyond. The Dorothy Irene Height Faculty Award is awarded to one current faculty member. Periodically, OGI will also posthumously honor one faculty member.
