Families and Guests
Commencement is all about our graduates. Let's make sure your guests can celebrate with you too! Find information on requesting invitation letters for visa applications, guest tickets, and entrance policies at Yankee Stadium.
International Visa Requests
International guests who plan to attend Commencement may need to apply for a US B-2 visitor visa. Information about applying for a visa is available at the US Embassy or Consulate where the visa application will be made. Applications will need to show that the visit to the US is temporary, that there are adequate finances to cover the trip, and that they intend to return to their home country (proof of ties such as job, family, property, or other commitments).
If you need US visas to attend Commencement and/or your school ceremony, visit the Office of Global Services’ international visitors webpage and other recommended documentation for international visitors arriving for Commencement, which includes how to request an NYU Commencement letter of invitation.
Guest Tickets
Tickets are required for all guests attending Commencement at Yankee Stadium. The number of tickets is not confirmed for the May 2024 All-University Commencement ceremony. In recent years, candidates have been limited to two (2) guest tickets with the option to enter a lottery for one (1) additional guest ticket.
Children who are 3 years old or younger and less than 30 inches tall do not need a ticket for entry. However, the child must sit on an adult’s lap during the ceremony without obstructing the view of other guests.
If you require wheelchair seating, graduates must request wheelchair-accessible tickets on your behalf. Information about wheelchair seating and other accommodations is available on the accessibility page.
Tickets for individual school ceremonies must be ordered separately.
Guest Seating
Guest and candidates sit in separate sections. Tickets are general admission only; there is no assigned seating.
Security and Entrance Policies
Flowers, balloons, selfie sticks, large bags (larger than 16”x16”x8”), suitcases, laptops, strollers, and several other items are not permitted at Yankee Stadium. Please review the full list of prohibited items. There is no bag check at the stadium.
Security screening, including metal detectors, will take place at all stadium entrances. Guests are not permitted to exit and re-enter on the same ticket.
