Fired Enamel on Glass
8 x 55 feet
Urban Helix was created by artist Susan Kaprov in the entrance lobby of the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. The work is intended to evoke the visual convergence of science and advanced technology within a thriving urban environment.
Urban Helix consists of striking images, symbols and encoded messages inspired by nature, science, and technology, all of which flow freely within an imaginary urban grid. Fabricated in fired enamel pigments on tempered float glass, the work merges computer-generated imaging with contemporary painting techniques.
Collaborative architect on the project was Davis Brody Bond Architects of NY.
